Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef or turkey
Minced garlic
1, 15oz can crushed tomatoes
3 cups chicken or beef broth
1/2 cup milk - optional creamier sauce
2 cups penne pasta - uncooked
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional grated Parmesan and fresh basil garnish
Instructions:
In a large skillet or deep pan: cook ground beef/turkey over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add minced garlic to the skillet: and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Stir in: the crushed tomatoes, broth, milk (if using), uncooked penne, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Cover and cook: on medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and the sauce has thickened. Add a little extra broth if the pasta absorbs the liquid too quickly.
Spoon into bowl and enjoy!: top with grated Parmesan and fresh basil, if desired.
